A lot was learned from our first year of shrimp farming.  In 2008, we had a successful year in raising 16,000 shrimp totaling over 700 lbs.  Unfortunately, we did not have enough shrimp to meet the demand of our customers.  If there was one criticism, it was that not all shrimp were of consistent size.  Some were large and some were small, but they were sold on a per pound basis.  One thing that everyone agreed on was that the day was a lot of fun and the taste of the shrimp was exceptional.

This year, 20,000 juvenile shrimp were purchased.  They were older juveniles and more mature than last year’s.  The initial water temperature of the pond hit 70 degrees Fahrenheit earlier this year (June 8th) which enabled us to have a longer growing season.  Our harvest date is six days later than last year's, and the recent rise in temperature has spurred increased growth.  Also, the maturity of the pond provided a greater amount of natural foods which also impacted the increased size of the shrimp.

Shrimp will be sold whole by the pound.

We are currently taking orders for shrimp online.  All orders must be pre-paid.  If more orders are taken than shrimp are available, all refunds will be returned within 5 business days.  The price for pre-paid orders is $12.00/lb.  At the day of harvest, the shrimp will sell at $15.00/lb.  Online orders will be filled first.  Please place orders on our Web site at www.shrimp-farm.com.
